I grownup watching Chanakya, Discover of India, Mahabharat, Ramayan , Rani Laxmi Bai, Tipu Sultan etc as a serials which I was not able to understand neither their philosophy nor their concept. But on one thing I was sure that govt want us to understand our culture and our past struggle in a constructive way. I am really proud to be a part of an era which was planned for future.
But things changed gradually. A new era of showing manipulated India and an illogical middle class serials , saas-bahu serial which are more emphasizing on evil nature of our society( many one), reality shows which is not near to reality (e.g., Roadies , crunch etc), flashing irresponsible news( e.g., Mumbai Blast) and impacts of these channels are more destructive on society even much more to a child who is just start asking WHY and HOW to their parents on a subjects which is no more realistic.
Today's world is became capitalistic in nature which leads to change in media coverage but yes DD has not changed their philosophy remains same, they are still showing culture of India through DD National, Bharti , Lok Sabha channels , they are still showing much realistic news through DD News. Their advertisement are much more towards imparting awareness.
Critics say these channels are more govt sponsored but one need to understand that these channels are not there to increase financial assets to govt and these critics are political critics and not social critics.
Philosophy says we still want a mature India who should be more realistic, rational and practical in nature so that they can understand pain area and atrocities of our culture so that they can bring necessary changes to this country which is still in a transition state.
Ending on a note that Private bodies should have a capitalistic nature but with a mandatory sense of responsibility towards society and they should understand their moral obligation towards a mixed culture of India, 4th dimension of democracy should be more responsible without center’s intervention.
