He exceeded the world record by whopping 45 runs, Amazing, isn't?? But the blog is not about how great Mr Rohit sharma is- Leaving this domain to other more technical experts of cricket, rather why i was not even aware about this series till this news of world record :o
Probably i lost interest in following cricket after retirement of Ganguly and completely after exit of Dravid. Sadly i followed this inning(only on cricinfo) from 47th over after reading one of post on facebook. This inning did not even proved me to watch it live, either due to incompetent SL bowling side or the batting favorable ICC rules and pitches. Still cant say that it is a trilling inning or not. Completely passive on same but is it stand next to the Jayasuriya inning with 180+ which made us sweat??
Well i certainly remembered some of very threatening inning which came to my mind after watching the score of RS( and not intensity), some are given below:
1. Jayasuriya's 180+ against India: Very insulting and heart pounding for me,
2. Izaz Ahmed's 100+ in Pakistan: Damn very haunting inning, National Humiliation,
3. Anwar's 180+ Against India: Still remember Kumble's bowling,
4. 2 proud 135+ consecutive innings of Sachin against Aus(Had with Best bowlers of era) in sharjah ,
5. Jadeja's little cameo against Waqar bhai in 1996 WC QuaterFinal which ultimately lead to funeral procession in pakistan,
6. 90+ of Sachin's 2003 inning against our wester neighbour,
7. Heart breaking ton of Ponting which shattered hope 1 billion emotional Indian in 2003 WC ( What made that WC special was Sachin's and Team's commitment after early loss against AUS)
Now cutting it short as now it reminds me of Laxman-Dravid and all.. :)
So ending on a note , the game of cricket has changed a-lot because of batsmen friendly rules and pitches thus even with this such a high scoring and very colorful evening i am still writing this blog and you are reading same.
Lets hope for a more competitive and balanced rules else it would become a entertainment with high scoring and records instead of class. Missing Dravid,Warne,McGrath,Wasim,Waqar,Sachin,Ganguly, Vass when even loss to India comes with a good cricket match.
